Google Confirms New Fitbit Hardware Coming in 2026
Google has confirmed new Fitbit hardware will launch in 2026, marking the brand’s first fitness tracker release in years as part of a broader strategy positioning Fitbit as the affordable alternative to Pixel Watch.
During the Fitbit Coach preview announcement, Google stated it’s “launching new Fitbit hardware next year,” alongside the full rollout of the personalised health coach and redesigned Fitbit app.
The Fitbit team teased “an exciting year ahead,” indicating continued brand investment.
The confirmation addresses Fitbit’s extended hardware gap.
The last full tracker, the Fitbit Charge 6, launched in September 2023, while the budget-friendly Inspire 3 dates to 2022.
The Versa 4 and Sense 2 smartwatches haven’t received direct successors, except for the Wear OS-powered Ace LTE, a kids’ smartwatch released earlier this year.
With Pixel Watch 4 starting at $679, Fitbit’s cheaper range remains the go-to option for fitness-first wearables.

The strategy creates clear product differentiation, with Pixel Watch 4 featuring extensive Fitbit branding while maintaining premium positioning.
Future Fitbit devices are expected to continue the brand’s emphasis on week-long battery life, lightweight design, and cross-platform compatibility, particularly for iOS users who don’t want to switch ecosystems.
This contrasts with Pixel Watch’s daily charging requirement and Android-centric features.
A 2026 refresh could introduce a sleeker tracker or possibly an “ultra” fitness smartwatch built on Wear OS, targeting the gap between basic fitness trackers and premium smartwatches.
Google is unlikely to release another standalone Fitbit smartwatch given Pixel Watch’s established position.
Maintaining Fitbit as the affordable, fitness-focused alternative creates portfolio balance and addresses different consumer segments without internal competition.
The extended development timeline suggests Google is taking time to differentiate new Fitbit hardware meaningfully from both previous models and the Pixel Watch lineup.
