According to Epoz, the AktiMate Maxi has been more than 15 months in development. So what's new? For starters, the amplifier in the Maxi has been increased to an output of 60 Watts per channel (compared to 40W on the Mini). The bass driver is bigger (now 165mm from 130) and the tweeters are offset to provide greater separation.
The Maxi offers a lot more features than its predecessor?this bookshelf speaker has Internet radio (powered by Reciva), FM, wireless audio streaming functions (via Windows and UPnP), as well as Ethernet and Wi-Fi. It even has an LCD screen on the left speaker that helps a user browse through the menu and functions.
The slave speaker connector, 3.5mm jack, two pairs of
RCA input ports, an
RCA output, and USB port are found at the rear panel of the active speaker. The USB port plays music from an MP3 or USB stick, with the unit supporting WAV, MP3, RealAudio, and WMA formats.
