By Mendelson Tiu | Monday | 28/09/2009

Samsung has launched a monitor that will deliver 3D games when combined with a pair of NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision glasses and graphics card.

The Samsung 2233RZ automatically converts games to stereoscopic 3D, without the need for special game patches. Delivering a 120Hz signal, the monitor provides flicker-free 3D at its best. Unlike many other widescreen monitors, the Samsung 2233RZ displays 5:4 and 4:3 images at accurate aspect ratios to prevent enlargement and distortion.

The monitor also has a built-in off timer function for energy-saving benefits, which enable the monitor to turn itself off at set times when not in use.

Samsung Australia's National Product and Marketing Manager, Emmanuele Silanesu said, "Consumers have come to expect great things from Samsung's monitors, so we are pleased to be extending our award winning product range with the launch of our very first 3D monitor. There are over 110 games currently available in 3D; as this number increases, the need for hardware technology to keep up becomes increasingly more important. We are continuing to prove our commitment to this category by creating a new and exciting experience that offers consumers something different."

The Samsung 2233RZ 3D Monitor is available from Ingram Micro, Altech, Dicker Data, XIT, and Westan starting this month for $599.

NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision glasses and NVIDIA graphics card sold separately. The 2233RZ supports Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7.
