Panasonic expects the first of its NeoPDP Plasma models, the Panasonic VIERA G10 series, to be shipped later this week. This new plasma panel comes with new innovations such as improved energy efficiency, superior image quality, and thin profile.

Panasonic Australia's Director, Consumer Electronics Group, Paul Reid said, "The arrival of NeoPDP signals a revolution for Plasma panels in Australia, confirming its place as the best choice for larger screen sizes. During the next few months Panasonic will be progressively introducing more NeoPDP models featuring thinner screens, improved energy efficiency and even 1080p Full HD wireless connectivity."

The flat panel television market experienced approximately 25% growth in the first quarter of 2009 (January-March period) compared with 12 months ago.

Reid said the combination of a relatively resilient Australian economy and a shift in focus towards investing in the home – a trend referred to as ‘cocooning' – had contributed to continuing strong demand for flat panel televisions.

"People are spending more time at home and the purchase of a large screen Plasma television is seen as a long-term investment that the whole family can enjoy, Panasonic's most advanced Plasma range has arrived at a perfect time for consumers," concluded Reid.

The Panasonic VIERA TH-P42G10A Full HD Plasma TV will be available this week with an RRP of $2,749.
