The
Samsung Series 6 and Series 7 LED TVs will sport a minimum 5-star rating from today, with the two 55-inch LED screens achieving a 6-star rating. The company said that the reason why its new TVs were able to achieve a low level of energy consumption was because of its LED edge lighting technology.
Samsung Australia's Head of Marketing, Consumer Electronics, Mark Leathan said, "Samsung is extremely proud to be playing a lead role in an industry which is increasingly conscious of energy consumption levels and environmental impacts of raw materials."
"Samsung LED TVs use up to 40% less power than an equivalent sized LCD TV and we're delighted that our customers will see a financial saving as a result," added Leathan.
The rating system is a similar to the energy ratings which have been mandatory on washing machines, fridges and air conditioners for several years.
