Despite a massive marketing campaign for their 200Hz Bravia LCD TV's Sony has failed to make the top three in global shipments of LCD TV's offering 200Hz the latest DisplaySearch research reveals.
Worldwide shipments of LCD TVs offering 100Hz and 200Hz is set to grow with DisplaySearch claiming that vendors will sell 22.5 million units and 4.8 million units, respectively, taking 15.8 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively, of the forecasted 142 million unit market.
A new report titled "Quarterly Double Frame Rate TV Panel Shipment & Forecast," shows that in Q1'09, shipments of double frame rate LCD TV panels reached 3.5 million units, achieving a 14.3 percent penetration.
Samsung led shipments with a 33.7 percent share, followed by AUO at 18.3 percent and LG Display.

Currently, only Samsung and LG Display are mass producing 200Hz LCD TV panels, with Samsung holding a dominant 92.3 percent market share in Q1'09.
