Panasonic Ready For Digital Switchover

By Mendelson Tiu | Tuesday | 22/06/2010

Panasonic announced that its new Viera televisions, Blu-ray players and recorders, as well as DVD players and recorders will carry a digital ready high definition label to help consumers make the switch.

Panasonic Australia's Managing Director, Steve Rust said that it has spent considerable investment in time and efforts over the past months will help to ensure the smoothest transition possible for Australia's switchover to digital-only free to air television by 2013.

"The Digital Switchover Labelling Scheme is something which Panasonic wholeheartedly supports, the labelling on all applicable Panasonic products in-store will ensure that no matter what digital knowledge the consumer has, they will be able to make informed decisions when purchasing new equipment, which in turn will make for easier transactions for the retailers," said Rust.

"All applicable Panasonic 2010 products feature the Australian Government labels which enable consumers to quickly and easily review product capability before they buy. Panasonic has a wide range of VIERA TVs, Twin HD Tuner DVD Recorders and Australia's only Blu-ray Disc Recorders which all provide an easy way to make the switch to digital TV," continued Rust.

Executive Director of the Digital Switchover Taskforce, Andy Townend commented that the support of television manufacturers, including Panasonic, is vital to help consumers understand how to switch to digital TV.
