| Sony To Sell 52 & 60 Inch 3D TVs
By David Richards | Monday | 08/02/2010
Sony Australia, which later this month will reveal its 3D TV line-up, is expected to show a 60" and 52” model, as well as a new line up of Bravia TVs.
The new models will feature different iterations of LED backlighting, a new, bezel-free monolithic design and Internet video capability, which will allow users to pull down content from a new Sony content network set to be rolled out later this year.
Retailers will also be given the option of selling an optional stand that tilts the screen six degrees upward, which Sony said at the recent CES was designed to deliver a better viewing experience. The stand is expected to retail for $499.
Sony is set to urge retail to demo models with the stand in an effort to create a point of difference from other 3D TVs coming from Panasonic, LG, Samsung and several Chinese brands.
Sony Australia will also demonstrate its new Blu-ray players in an effort to regain market share lost last year to Panasonic. The two new 3D models are believed to be the 60-inch XBR-60LX900 and the 52-inch XBR-52HX900.
